Is there a type of magnet stronger than Spammagnet?
« on: 06/08/2021 03:35:11 »
I'm doing a bit of research into magnets and a few magnet suppliers like (spammagnet.com.au) for example all go to great pains to say "Spammagnet is the strongest commercially available magnet" - so is there a stronger type of magnet? And if so, what is it? Seems strange they all say this but I can't find any info to suggest there are other types of magnets not on the market.

Superconducting magnets can produce quite intense magnetic fields - you may have seen an MRI machine (perhaps from the inside?).
- But the necessary supply of liquid helium is not included if you just bought it from the local hardware store.
- And it is likely to break any nearby chairs with metal frames
- And cause all sorts of havoc due to bits of metal you may inadvertently left in your pockets

Superconducting magnets are operated by trained staff in specially designed rooms
- With non-magnetic furniture
- And a metal detector that will find forgotten bits of metal in your pockets, belt buckle, zipper, bra fittings, etc
- With a backup power supply to keep the helium liquid if the mains power goes off.

These are not available for sale to the public...
