Nintendo Wii accessories, are they taking the "P"?

Has anyone used the bat and club extensions you can add to the Wii remotes? They are supposed to help your play by you actually using a bat, racket or club. Yet when I attach them they block the IR unit and stop the remote from working!

What am I doing wrong?

Go outside, smell the fresh air, then go and play some proper sport.

Yes, I've heard people getting injured playing with those things because they are playing inside and usually in a very confined space.

They have special numbchuck condoms now for safer playing. Apparently they bounce off your TV screen. I bought the balance board and Wii Fit but found out it was really easy to cheat on it so had to go back to the aerobics lady I used to go to in order to stop myself from slacking.
