How can I assign virtual IPs in thin clinet?
«

Dear All,
I have got Thin clinet (NCOMPUTING) installed in my office. for that I have put up a server with windows XP on it and connected a multi lan card in it. and installed a ncomputing software on the xp machine.
and I connected all (10) thin client in that xp machine directly with the patch cord.
I am able to browse the internet and access application via those thin clients without any problem.
challenge I am facing is::
I have got 10 users accessing internet via those 10 thin clients, but in firewall If I want to check which users has browsed what all sites, I do not get that log. reason is it shows the IP address of that XP machine.
so I am finding it difficult that the facebook or any website is browsed by user1 or user 2 or user3 and so on till user 10. coz I can only get the log of the XP machine (IP). which is defeating the purpose of monitoring from the firewall.
now if I can get to assign the IP to those 10 thin clients then my purpose will be solved. I heard by assigning virtual ip concept in xp machine I can achieve this.
then all the thin client's session will get an ip the moment they browse internet via that xp machine and once thin client get IP I can log the report for that thin client.
Pls help

Does the server sign in each thin client to an individual account?
If so, the Administrator can read the web browsing history from each individual account (assuming the user does not delete their browsing history).

no, it is directly connected with XP machine. so it is difficult to monitor the individual history. moreover that would be a cumbersome job.
any body can help me with virtual ip on xp. ??

Like
http://www.truecafe.net/index.php
? (No free ware)
Or you have
http://www.ncomputing.com/kb/Microsoft-Virtual-IP-and-NComputing-IP-Utility-%28NIU%29_291.html
(Windows Server)
and
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee308290%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
You can also assign static IP addresses for each device individually, according to
http://www.serverwatch.com/server-reviews/exploring-the-server-and-client-side-of-vdi.html
You should check your documentation for that one first
Read this in order, please
http://superuser.com/questions/220055/how-can-i-give-my-machine-a-static-ip-on-lan
(a good place to ask questions)
http://corz.org/comms/hardware/router/static.ip.address.php?page=all
(do it manually)
http://portforward.com/help/setup_static_ip_address.htm
(very bad connection as I tested it.)
and then see what you prefer.

Don't know nccomputing, but do the server create a log of its clients activity's? Even without telling you which machine that did what? It should have a log. If you give each client a static IP then that should be shown in that log, with whatever IP they went to, outside your network. I don't think you can get the individual browser history directly though, although there seems to exist hacks (java scripts etc) that does similar stuff.
