Amazing that such a thing as a seed, should have a defence mechanism, or even require one. For their numbers must be vast,...and yet....they evolved so..........Incredible really.

A byproduct from the wine industry is the oil that is pressed from the seeds in the grapes.  It is widely used (in wine making areas at least) as a table oil and in the kitchen, but does it contain any toxic substances ? 
I mean, some plants are grown for oil production, so there must be cultivars that are not toxic.  But this grapeseed oil is only a byproduct.
