I have Angioedema. What can I do?
« on: 15/12/2016 15:53:01 »
Perpetua Majola asked the Naked Scientists:

I am wondering if I can be helped. I have Angioedema and I suffer almost everyday. somedays I swell or get difficulty in breathing whilst others I get a pounding headache or tummy ache. But I have chronic fatigue and pain especially backpain and hip pain.

What do you think?

This is not a forum where advice can be normally be given for personal medical problems but may I point you to an excellent Wiki article were the condition is discussed at length.
Due to the risks involved I think it is best dealt with by medical professionals rather than self medication.

Not sure if your case is hereditary or acquired, but if the etiology of your disease is bradykinin-mediated vs histamine-mediated.... you should speak to your physician about the bradykinin receptor blocker icatibant.
