Manfred Mans version of Bruce Springsteens  "Blinded By The Light " is an awesome track which I luff

I unfortunately ran over two bunnies once as they stopped and stared and wondered in awe at the bright lights that were  heading their way.....unfortunately it was the last bright light they ever saw !!.....

It clearly mystifies/hypnotises/trances them out some how !!

    Me too !!

I have to say...I don't know if it would blind them but then...............from a rabbits perspective at about what ?..six inches off the ground ?...it might do !!........either that or it's the preferred method of Bunnycide  (Rabbit Suicide)

I wonder if that is where the phrase "Go towards the light" comes from. You dont go to the light, it comes at you

Doubt it, but there is an easy way to test.

When one suffers temporary blindness through over exposure to light (e.g. snow blindness), there is a recovery time - how long does it take for the animal to recover when the light is switched off.

I think it is simply they are frozen with fear and confusion - they don't understand what it is, so are not sure whether they should run away, take evasive action, challenge whatever it is.

If an animal is not looking for food, but can pose a potential threat, then sometimes the worst thing you can do is run from it (especially if it can run faster) - so you don't turn your back and run from a dangerous dog, since that is exactly what might initiate an attack.

I ran over a cat too, except in this case it actually ran into my oncoming car !!.........I really hate running things over !!

I agree with the confusion......not too sure about the fear but I would expect there to be a basic trepidation as it tries to figure what it is.

This sounds to me like something miners or cavers might do.
