If it's not in a war 'zone' then I'd say 'yes'.
I would get everything you expect confirmed in writing before you go - terribly difficult after the fact or whilst you are in Afghanistan. It's good cash on the sound of it - but make sure you do you tax/NI/expenses calculations before you go or say yes. At your age I would almost certainly have said yes - but think long and hard and break it to your family gently
I am with Matthew.. You should really think about it and definitely get it all in writing so they cannot slip out of their obligation.. which can sometimes happen and that would be terrible.

I'm just curious what the private market for Afghan interpreters is like.I know that private engineers get paid an awful lot. Does the army have statistics for the mortality rate for interpreters? It is possible that some people in the country would see you as a traitor which could make it worse than other professions.
