Can electro-magnet make an electric field to charge mobiles and other gadgets?
« on: 18/08/2016 13:53:01 »
Asko Wiedel asked the Naked Scientists:
I have an elector-magnet that has two positive poles.
Will this magnet make an electric field to charge  cellphone or other gadgets?

What do you think?

You appear to be mixing your magnetic and electrical physics. Magnets have north and south "poles", cells (batteries) have positive and negative terminals.

If you can be a bit clearer about what equipment you have and what you are seeking to achieve then it will be easier to assist you.

It can but it'd be a total waste of time and effort. If you varied the current in the electromagnet then it would generate a time varying electric field. That can then be used to charge a cell phone or whatever after the current has been rectified (i.e. made to flow in only one direction). However you'd be better of using what it was that made the time varying current in the first place.

 please direct me
questions, theoretical questions because integrals and derivates were never thought to me properly.
in few words; energy.... those hops from one field to another "just because"
it's a gut understanding of the flow of energy in an empirical way obviously, but i need somebody that does the math part
magnetism to electrons, to gravity, to .........quantum?
