My guess would be that it was pollen that was dusted off from the tree.

below is a picture of a tree "leaf". now, i have no idea as to the type of tree that it is from, so luckilly that is not my question []my question is, when Anastasia brushed past one of the low lying branches a big cloud of, what i can only describe as dust poured from the "leaf"!what was this dust?
Seany, just so's you know, the tree in question appears to be a Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata) and originates in the NW areas of the USA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thuja_plicata
