below is a picture of a tree "leaf". now, i have no idea as to the  type of tree that it is from, so luckilly that is not my question  []

my question is, when Anastasia brushed past one of the low lying branches a big cloud of, what i can only describe as dust poured from the "leaf"!

what was this dust?

My guess would be that it was pollen that was dusted off from the tree.

Yep me too. I have a tree in my garden and I hit it with my badminton racket and a cloud of greeny yellowy dust came off.. And it was pollen [] I'm allergic to pollen, so I don't go too close to the tree now []

I have this tree in my garden too.....well..not YOUR tree because that would be silly and wrong !....but Anastasia has inadvertently found the dwelling of the laundry fairies (see my comment in your laundry drying thread)....everywhere they go they leave fairy dust....it's how they procreate y'know !!

Seany, just so's you know, the tree in question appears to be a Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata) and originates in the NW areas of the USA.

The above is my cedar..






These are small pieces of the cedar you can see some of the powdery pollen or whatever on the branches also! It has grown about8 or ten feet in the last 15 years and has doubled in width and circumference!
