Has Dell Invaded My Cyberspace ?
« on: 03/11/2011 18:15:33 »
Ever since I perused the DELL website for a new laptop (which I did not purchase) I have seen their ads on my WWW journey every where I go !
Facebook, Gmail, Ebay as well as a few others !...

1:..Is this a cookie thing ?..Or 2: is that the ads were always there and they subliminally made me visit DELL or 3: is that the ads were always there and I am just noticing them more so since I visited (unilaterally) the site ?

whajafink ?

I tend to think it's a cookie thing !

It sounds like a little paranoia....
You may have been looking at the most popular Dell models.

However, you probably also snagged some Dell cookies, or perhaps some other advertizing agency cookies.

If it is a problem, then using a program like NoScript, or various ad blockers will help.  It is a bit of a pain to use though, as one ends up unblocking a lot of websites.

I am always amazed at the number of places that Google shows up.  For example, google-analytics.com shows up on TheNakedScientists website.
