Well I eat tons of tomatoes and have had no problem with mouth ulcers.
I grow my own in the greenhouse, on the patio, in hanging baskets and on the windo-ledges at work, deeeeeeeeliscious! I'll probably turn into a tomato one day and then I can eat myself!

Looking at the info on the web, it seems that tom's should be avoided (and citrus fruits and chocolate and sulphuric acid etc..)if you already have an ulcer.

If I eat too many tomatoes (I love them BTW) I get mouth sores.  But this happens anytime I eat acidic foods, like any type of fruite, especially that is not really ripe.

So, I think there is something to the connection, but maybe not just tomatoes - just not quite ripe tomatoes.

Could this be a mild allergy?
