A signal that controls the integrity of the blood brain barrier - the system that protects and chemically cocoons the brain from the rest of the body - has been discovered.

Interesting.

Perhaps this would at least slow down the progression of diseases such as MS.

Another issue has been developing methods to deliver medications to the brain.  One would have to be careful to not risk inducing a disease like MS, but this research might help with the delivery of chemotherapy agents, for example, to the brain.
