The Answer I'm seeking certainly isn't Wednesday.

When it is Wednesday August 1st 2018 somewhere on Earth, it is Tuesday 31st July or Thursday 2nd August at some other places on Earth.

That only includes those places that use Gregorian calendars and English/Germanic/Norse Gods as names of days.
There are many other calendars in use around the world:
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_calendars#List_of_calendars

...but even among European countries using the Gregorian calendar, many of them use Latin/Roman Gods/Planetary names for the days.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_the_days_of_the_week#Days_named_after_planets

And if you are driving a rover on Mars, you count "Sols", which is just a count of the number of times the Sun has risen wherever your rover is on Mars. And a Mars day is 24 hours and 37 minutes.
