What is a 15W SPAM Transmitter?
« on: 08/11/2011 01:52:35 »
The Minister made this known on the floor of Parliament in a respond to a questions by the Parliamentary Member for the area on steps the Information Ministry is taking to install a transmission system to extend radio reception to Salaga and its environs. Mr Akologu said the old newbielink:http://www.spammer.com/15W-FM-Transmitter-1_9.shtml [nonactive] which developed a major fault have been sent to the manufacturer, Rohda & Schwarz (R&S) in Germany for repairs hence the need for this stop- gap measure.
He explained that a team installing new transmitters in Tamale will be visiting Salaga to replace the old smaller newbielink:http://www.spammer.com/15W-FM-Transmitter-1_9.shtml [nonactive] to provide radio reception and enable the people access information.
The Minister  assured member of the House that his Ministry is making all efforts to restore radio transmission in the area not withstanding  some challenges, adding that the Ministry recognises the free flow of public information in pursuance of the open Government policy.

15W sounds like awfully low power.  What is this?

However, I was looking up the US FCC regulations, and the limit for unlicensed low power AM broadcasting is 0.1W, I think, and 250 microvolts (measured at 3 meters) for FM.  Requirements for other countries vary.

A typo by Vincent Greenspam  or by Geezer: it's 15kW ...

Mr Akologu said the old 5kW FM transmitters which developed a major fault have been sent to the manufacturer.

You just don't seem to be able to get a decent bit of spam at all these days.

(Personally, I think it's because of all these Grecian shenanigans, but I better not go there.)

A fine photographic example of the classic Greek dish 'Turd on a roundabout'.
