still not smokin [:D]

it's good because everytime i feel the cravings coming

"get away from me bitch stay out of my life!"

and it goes away, i've been smokin 10years tried
patches (alone), zyban, hypnotism, this idea just came to me
and it's still working, including takin away almost
completely the craving, give it a go but you really
have to make a drama out of it in your thoguhts,

Never got into smoking to many peeps in my family have died from cancer. If you want a sure fire way to stop, watch a video of a human lung being sliced open after someone has died from Emphysema. That put me off more than smoking for life (Thanks Biology A Level scarring me for life). The lung was like twice the size of a normal lung, and about 50% liquefied [:P], fluid just gushed out into a tray as they cut in. Not a great way to die drowning in your own half digested lungs. If that doesn't get you, there is throat/lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, heart disease, arterial sclerosis etc. Just imagine seeing yourself with all these diseases every time you take a drag, I’m pretty sure that would work (for me at least). Why cant they just sell synthetic cigarettes which are just as addictive and give that nicotine buzz, but don’t damage peoples health?

I just quit the other day for like the 20th time in my life.  I can usually manage to go 3-6 months without smoking but then I do something stupid like buy a pack while drunk and the next thing I know I'm back up to a pack a day.  I really with I had the willpower to smoke 1 or 2 cigs a day but I don't.

However this last quit is for real.  I've been having problems breathing and swallowing and have been catching a cold every other month since I got back on the smokes again so I think it's time to grow up and put this crap behind me.  So far the worst part has been the insomnia.  I was up until 7am the last two nights and still only slept for about 5 hours each time.

Every person that's ever died in my family since I've been alive has been from either lung cancer or emphysema.  I can't be doing this to myself any more.

Well, That's incentive enough eh ?......Jay, I know two people who were 10-20 a day smokers for years, and they just decided one day that ' enough was enough ' and they just stopped and have never started. But your  Achilles heel is when you get drunk eh ?...I suppose you have to depend on the support of your colleagues to not let you smoke a ciggy when you get tipsy.

Sounds like you're suffering a form of cold turkey with your insomnia...but YOU'RE gonna do it Jay....it's just a period of time that you have to get through....go for it mate !!!..DO IT !!!

Thanks for the encouragement.  :)

It's not that hard when I'm just sitting around the house, going to school, reading, or things of that nature.  It's when I start playing poker or drinking or any hobby that I usually participate in with smoking friends.  I just need to keep up my willpower.

Benefits of Quitting Smoking

• Quitting smoking any time will make life not only better, but also longer.
• If you are pregnant, quitting smoking will improve your chances of having a healthy baby.
• Infants and young children are at special risk and could suffer permanent damage due to cigarette side-stream smoke.
• You will have extra money to spend on things other than cigarettes.
• Studies have shown that more than 25 percent of U.S. adults smoke and if you are a 45-year-old woman who does smoke, the odds that you’ll die in the next decade are 50 in 1,000.
• Although 70% of smokers want to stop smoking and 41% attempt to quit smoking each year, only 2.5% succeed.
• Smoking can restrict the blood supply to the lower spine, leading to chronic back pain, and also can slow recovery from bone surgery.
• Research has determined that heavy cigarette smoking by female smokers doubles the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis.

If you're quitting smoking, and going for a drink or two, buy medical chewing gum -- just in case. I think they are kinda expensive, but if you want to live longer nothing is too expensive.

I just quit smoking two days ago. I hope I'll succeed this time.
