What is glue ear?

Hi there People haven't written on here in ages been so busy but i regularly keep an eye on the site!!!
Now I'm back i have a few queries and wondered if anyone could help me.
A friend of mine has recently been diagnosed with something called tinnitus. Basically its a form of whistling in the head throughout the day proving to be obviously distracting and annoying. It only hurts the head occasionally but does make hearing difficult. Does anyone know anything about it, or remedies that may help to calm it down?
When first visiting the doctor they said it could be glue ear, this however is apparently most common in children not adults a such. So i was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the symptoms of glue ear and tinnitus, as well as maybe the causes.
I would be extremely grateful for any help in this matter?
Thank you everyone

I've had Tinnitus since I was in the military about a decade ago. I'm guessing it was from all of the loud noises I was subjected to without hearing protection. It never went away and I have lived with it ever since.
OTC Medications and prescriptions I have taken have not done the real trick as far as I'm concerned. A friend suggested I start using some herbal/ hollistic type treatments as I had no other real alternative. I finally found some prolonged relief and I can lead a normal life again. <p>
