Pardon me if my ideas might seem a bit old fashioned, but the last time I checked, I was the only person who coughed up any money to allow programs to utilize the resources on my computer.

So, if various programs run on my computer, why don't they pay me rent for the occupancy of those resources? It's really quite straightforward. "You rent the space, you pay the owner of the space."

Alright Ya'all give Sheepy back his computer, and Sheepy perhaps there should be a computer code encrypted into all your computers to help keep track of who is actually who on any given day and who is using your computer under what said name etc...because EWE's done got EWER hands in so many pots that it is easy to lose track of whats where and who's who in who's computer and or who originally owned said computer so that rental space residuals will be routed back to the proper owner of said computer so as to eliminate some very confusing mix ups about rightful ownership privileges etc...LOL...LOL... Hows that for confusion..Hee hee hee....

There are two ways to design a website with automation.

One can generate all the code on a central server, and execute all the logic there, and just spit out simple HTML code for the computer to display.
Or, one can run scripts on each individual machine that connects to the websites.

Some things like frames are much more efficient with execution on the individual computers.  And, of course, it is less of a load on the server.

But, I think many sites have gone overboard.  I find it annoying when websites open unauthorized popups, or suddenly start talking to me, or blasting me with their own music.  And... no...  I don't twit and tweet.  That's for the birds!!!!!!!!!!!

The other issue is resources.

Everyone seems to consider resources like memory as being infinite....  and thus any individual programmer can design the site as if they can utilize 100% of the upload/download speed, and 100% of the computer's memory.

Yes...  some features like google's type-ahead are nice...  but is it really necessary?

It is not uncommon for me to look and find my web browswer taking 1.5 to 2 GB of memory!!!

And, suddenly nothing is working smoothly. 

Personally, I believe that the major software companies have discovered that if they can force a person to upgrade their hardware...  then they will have a chance of selling more software. 

Anyway, I believe that there would be much better usability overall if there was more effort in making things efficient.  And, it comes down to individual website developers.  (ok, shoot me if I like to hyperlink photos).  But, I assume some of it is just dealing with general prepackaged products.
