Can space-time distortions model forces other than gravity?
« on: 22/11/2013 00:14:13 »
I'm aware that there have been attempts to model gravity in quantum physics by assuming it is transmitted by the graviton. If successful (so far it doesn't seem to have been, at least not totally), then quantum mechanics would have an explanation for the four fundamental forces.

However, I must ask if the opposite has ever been attempted? That is, has there ever been an attempt to describe electromagnetism and the nuclear forces as types of space-time distortions within relativity alongside gravity? Did Einstein have anything to say on the matter?
