Can my body alter plastics?

Michael asks:
I have diagnosed myself as being "Electromagnetically Hypersensitive". It's getting very bad now, and is affecting every single aspect of my day to day living. My doctor and other health care professionals also refuse to diagnose or fully treat the condition due to a lack of understanding around the situation.
My body's electromagnetic field is a lot larger and heavier than normal. This seems to be causing things I sit or lie on to smell toxic, change colour or shape or loose their shine or matt.
This is happening very quickly now, I can only sit down for a few minutes without feeling sick or feeling a burning within my skin or smelling the chemical compounds of the plastics, rubbers, foams, and so on changing due to the intensity of my body's electromagnetic field. I have had to stop working with cleaning chemicals.
I need to somehow provide basic scientific evidence that this is causing my body a problem.
What do you think?

Electromagnetic fields don't do those kinds of things. Take a powerful neodymium magnet and let it rest on those same kinds of materials. There won't be any changes of the type you mention. I strongly suspect that these changes are not in the environment, but in your head instead. It could be merely psychological, or it could be something more serious than that. Only a psychologist or doctor could make that call with more certainty.
Assuming, for just a moment, that these changes
are
happening as you describe, has anyone other than you noticed the change in odors, colors or shapes of material? How long does it take for these effects to manifest after you are exposed to these materials? If you are truly the only one to notice, that would be further evidence that it is a mental phenomenon you are experiencing.
