Is there any evidence that most men value their penis over any other part of their body?

It's a matter of priorities:
- If you have no air, filling your lungs is most important - you could die in 4 minutes
- If you have no water, wetting your mouth is most important - you could die in 3 days.
- If you are starving, filling your stomach is most important - you could die in 1 month

Other factors are more variable:
- Depending on where you live (and what season it is), protecting your skin with clothes and/or shelter may be the most important thing.
- If you have a broken leg, fixing the leg is most important. You may not die immediately, but you will be disabled for the rest of your life.
- If you have no children, your personal set of genes will die out in perhaps 70 years (although helping nieces and nephews can partially extend that)

Up to the age of about 50, our male appendage is probably the thing that's uppermost in our thoughts.

After that, its importance droops, and we turn to considerations of philosophy.

There are, or course, those moments when the bladder is full...  and everything fades from importance beyond emptying the bladder.

As far as personal attributes, I wouldn't think of that particular body part as being a reflection of me.

I agree with you, that the reflection of it in plane-mirrors, may be unsatisfactory.
As we've both obviously found out, during our youthful and playful experiments with self-viewing using such mirrors.

The dissatisfaction arises from the plane-mirrors' lack of magnifying power.  However, this power can be supplied by concave mirrors.  Which are readily available in the form of "shaving mirrors".

These are typically 3 or 4 inches in diameter. And owing to Newtonian optical theory, they present a reflected and magnified image of any object positioned in front of them.  Such as a bristly chin.  Ready to be shaved. 

But it goes without saying, that these mirrors can be used to view other objects.  Do you see what I mean?

The sensory homunculus is actually a serious construction showing the male body mapped with "equal concentration of nerve endings" instead of "equal areas". Oddly, there is also a motor neuron homunculus but no female version of either.
