Are all these misconceptions?
« on: 16/12/2022 14:35:49 »
These are things that many people on both sides of the Atlantic seem to think are true. I consider these misconceptions, but maybe I'm wrong?
- STI tests are only for those who sleep around.
- Fat people usually produce more flatulence than normal people.
- Fat people usually produce more potent flatulence than normal people.
- There is a link between penetrative sex acts and vaginal elasticity.
- Men almost never fake their orgasms.
- Women rarely look at pictorial or video pornography.
- Most pedophiles commit their crimes impulsively.
- Mars will be colonized.
- The Moon will be colonized.
- There is sound in space.
- If/when the icecaps melt, the oceans will rise over a thousand feet, sending civilization into a floating oblivion.
- Our consciousness survives our death.

You need to provide evidence that these are real beliefs rather than your own misconceptions of misconceptions.
I would agree that they are misconceptions, but I’m not aware that they are commonly held ones

Half of them are bonafide, the other half I pulled out of the air, that's why I posted in this section rather than in "general science". Just a bit of fun. I thought the days of the British stiff upper lip died post-British Empire...

I don't know how you can consider these misconceptions when the future is simply unknown.
