For you, Broca
« on: 03/06/2004 04:10:01 »
This is an email that made me think of you.

Give this some thought!

Charles Schultz Philosophy

You don't actually have to take the quiz. Just read the email straight through, and you'll get the point (an awesome one) that it is trying to make!

Take this quiz:

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

Donnah, I can not tell you that your timing in this could never have been any beter. I had a terrible day at school, thinking that it didn't matter how much I cared or did for these kids. Then to sign on and see this seems almost too much like divine intervention. Thank you. Timing in life is an amazing thing. You are amazing! Thanks for repairing me today. You are a most wonderful nurse. :-)

Ah, Broca, and now you have returned the favor.  I needed a boost today, and there you were.  Between you and Nancy I'm fixed!

Hey, that's super to hear. Amazing how a kind word or being thought of can change the temper of an entire day.

I've never seen you before Broca. Where did you spawn from? :)

I remember you from last summer, weren't you, or didn't you take a trip to Australia? I don 't remeber the particulars exactly, but I remember we all said by to you! <smile>

Check to see if your old school has  a website...you can leave a message in the visitors book....you never know...some of your old teachers might still be teaching....

Ah, Brocas Baby, to have such a sense of appreciation while you are so young must be wonderful.  You sound like a fantastic daughter.  You and your mother are fortunate to have each other.
