My guess is the tungsten filament and / or the molybdenum support wires got corroded.
Please disregard all previous signatures.

Engave

I find mostly that the hygiene arrangements in public toilets are mostly futile, assuming you don't wish to spread any contamination that you have on your hands firstly you turn on the taps of the wash basin spreading contamination to the taps (in the unlikely event there is none there already).
You wash your hands turn off the taps recontaminating them !,then you dry them on a paper towel if you are lucky and leave by pulling two door handles that may have already acquired some degree of contamination.
There are of course many more opportunities to spread contamination if you use one of the cubicles with no hand basins or bidets.

Palm Jumeirah and The World Islands, located in Dubai, UAE.

Think of it as our oil&gas money being put to work!!!

I'm envious! Love old gear - but in all honesty I have no room for in in my minute flat. Have to settle for small scientific toys (Newton's Cradle, Crooke's  Light-mill, prism, "Galileo"  thermometer etc.) Always on look-out for old ones, nearly bought an old barograph  but decided the price was not right for me - tried to part exchange it for some old cameras but  . . .
