Cute pup Ryan! Happy birthday to her!

My doggie is a very sick baby. He has heartworms [:-'(] He got his first treatment this week and we have to keep him calm.....not an easy task with a Jack Russell!

Sorry bout your dog Carolyn.. Are the treatments usually successful at ridding the heartworm from the dog...?

I have never had a pet get it!

Thanks Karen. Yes, there is every reason to believe the treatments will work, but there are no guarantees. Unfortunately, the treatments can kill them, which is why it's very important to keep them inactive. He'll have a total of 3 treatments and we'll have to keep him calm for 2 months.

We've had him on heartworm preventative forever, but I ran out and was a few months late getting him to the vet to get more. I stupidly thought he would be fine because he's an inside dog. *sigh* I was wrong and now my sweet little dog has to go through these very painful treatments!
