Snails!! How come..
« on: 01/04/2008 20:39:11 »
How come when I poke them through their hole in the the shell with a stick.. And carry on poking.. (Sorry for you snail lovers out there!  [:(]).. They eventually make green bubbles?? And lots of it?

How is that meant to be a defensive system? How does it help them?

It probably tastes foul and deters predators from eating them.

Ewe should do what I do....and pick all the snails up and lovingly, with care and attention and with a hop and a skip and smile of glee....chuck em next door where your neighbour and your neighbours plants will be grateful and full of joy !!.....and this also makes the snails happy too !! [;D]

Will try that technique.. Sounds like fun! Better than pesticide killing things which my mum uses for slugs!

That would depend on whether you like them crunchy or soft.

Sometimes we get slugs coming in for the dogs biscuits.. they leave a trail (as most snails do) and to clean it off (especially after it has dried) is really tough.. and takes many attempts at wiping it..  the slime really has some interesting properties.
