One of my favourite personality is Stanley Miller and I guess almost everybody heard about him or his experimentation. A link between hundred others :

I'm just disappointed because he is still alive and never received a Nobel price. This is not a fatality !!

Well, the Miller/Urey primordial soup experiment is of course original. Today, though, scientist believe that the earths atmosphere composition was different than applied in the experiment (actually stated on the website as well). Synthesis of organic compounds in that atmosphere would proceed according to a completely different mechanism - on hot Iron Nickel Sulfur surfaces with carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas.
