Well, everyone else seems to be talking about mosquitoes, so I thought I'd start a thread about them too!
Nah, couldn't help noticing a sudden surge in mosquito questions and topics around this place. Is it the season of mossie love in the north?

It's actually because this week's Naked Scientists Show is all about Mosquitoes and other Pests! We've got James Logan and Tony Hooper coming into the studio - they're from Rothamstead Research and are looking into why some people are more attractive than others (to mosquitoes, that is) and why some mossies don't seem to be affected by repellant. They're also developing strategies to utilise the chemical signalling of different plants in order to create a 'natural barrier' to pest insects and weeds.
Meera has been to visit the RHS to find out how pheromone traps work to lure in moths and in kitchen Science, I've been exposing myself to mozzies (not like that) to find out how attractive I am!
