Why Does Blossom Stick To My Windscreen ?
« on: 10/05/2008 16:53:21 »
Dear Blossomologists,

See this blossom ?

 [ Invalid Attachment ]

It's a thing of beauty when still upon the tree......but now it's all falling and this particular offending resident of my car windscreen is as stubborn as The Prince Of Stubborness in the Kingdom of Stubborndom in the continent of Stubbornaisa on the planet Stub !!

What makes it stick to my windscreen with such adhesive woe !!

I really don't know.....I rang up the Samaritans to ask and they hung up....I then rung up the speaking clock and all she did was tell me the time, my local chinese take-a-way were equally non fortcoming......I mean.......where's the help when I need it ?

There is probably some nectar on the blossom.
It must be sweet on you.

LOL....yes...and all it's brothers and sisters too !...hmmmm that's assuming ' blossom ' can have gender orientated siblings !!

I see...so the nectar has become the adhesive medium !!!..how sneaky !!

You are probably not driving fast enough. I get some wind noise from the sunroof around a 120mph and can't seem to stop it.

The blossoms do get a bit sticky when they blow off and are damp.. they are breaking down and the petals I assume leak also when broken about by car windshields!(windsreens for all you on the other side of the pond)
They do seem to seep moisture as they decompose and become brown. I assume its that nectar as was stated too and or the moisture from inside the petal also... there also could be a certain amount of sap associated from blooming off the branches.

Thank you Turnipsock

I am sure you are right. It's just that there are two blossom trees in my drive way and it's inevitable that the blossom is gonna fall on the car......driving my car at 120mph in the driveway is not so easy ! [;)]

Neil, just face facts. Nature since it can't cover you yourself with beautiful blossoms while inside, does the next best thing - covers your auto when you go out in public. It is just a gift for you.
