Shazza was not ignoring your thread Neil, Shazza is a busy Shazbot at the moment. I'm trying to get a real job (it's been a while.) I'm bored of being a freelancer and find working from home is making me talk to the fridge. I need to start back at work again before the fridge starts answering me!!!!!! Anyway, Kazza, I'm surprised no one has ever called you this before. We also have Bazza and Gazza. My son Murray is called Muzza. I'm also called Sharrie and Scooby but that is a different story.

Nope I have never heard that before! So just the first two letters and then "zza" eh?? I get it .. but where does it come from it reminds me in a round about way of pig latin!

I don't think you can say where it originated. It's just a form of nickname.

It is just an effectionate shortening of a name. I liked it because having a z in your name felt very space age (we are talking 70's childhood.) It was also used for Gary Linicker (Gazza), Englands Captain, during the Football (soccer) world cup in the year which we were narrowly beaten in the semi finals to the Argeez! Gazza is now a sports commentater, crisp stealer and all round hunk.

Are you sure? I've never heard him called that. I thought it was Paul Gascoigne who was called Gazza.

I remember that High Court judge asking about "La Gazza Ladra" ("The Thieving Magpie" by Rossini) when Gascoigne was in court.
