Protection of the eyes as most hair is for protection warmth etc.. Also acts to catch sweat etc from getting in your eyes!  just an opinion..

It's not true, pay no attention, it's because if you didn't have them, you'd look silly. So there function is to stop you looking silly. They do this in a manner of ways, from shopping tips to personal grooming advice; Or am I just lucky.
