I haven't heard that but there is "lickspittle" which means a either a sycophant or a parasite.
Incidentally the word spirtle dates from the early sixteenth-century (Shorter OED).

Rosalind Franklin was my first cousin and one my life's main regrets is that I never met this brilliant and beautiful lady.
She discovered the Single DNA Helix in 1953, then it was taken by Wilkins without her knowledge or agreeement.

Grits is a corn-based food and is traditionally a southern dish served at breakfast with eggs, etc.  It's made of coarsely ground corn and is served hot.  NO self respecting southerner would EVER serve or eat instant grits.

It's also the logo of one of my favorite t-shirts.

I would rather go without breakfast for that "meal" but I do that sometimes anyway.
