Looks a bit fishy to me...

The anomalous gradation of tone in the green box suggests it's a photo-montage.

(If it is a real animal I wouldn't like to meet it on a dark night: the teeth are of a carnivore).

Here is an article with tips on how to spot faked photos.

It certainly appears to be a composite of some sort.

Here's the article

It does look like a dog with the upper half of a turtle's head grafted onto it.  The fingers/toes look a bit long though.  There's some very clear photoshoppery going on too - that green square needs to be a little wider.

...And its claws are as big as cups, and for some reason it's got a tremendous fear of stamps! And Mrs Doyle was telling me it's got magnets on its tail, so if you're made out of metal it can attach itself to you! And instead of a mouth it's got four arses!

It's difficult to tell without a sense of scale... but that looks like a garden variety promotion to me.

It's actually a raccoon. It had been decaying in the water of the lake. The flesh of the ends of the face and limbs deteriorate first, apparently, exposing the bone. The body bloats, and the fur falls out.

See: http://scienceblogs.com/tetrapodzoology/2008/08/the_montauk_monster.php
and

for more information.

Rosalind Franklin was my first cousin and one my life's main regrets is that I never met this brilliant and beautiful lady.
She discovered the Single DNA Helix in 1953, then it was taken by Wilkins without her knowledge or agreeement.

a promotional tool... I was thinking the world would be exposed to some huge budget movie franchise that would take over the world (temporarily) post Olympic Games.
