Elevated levels of divalent ions, such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphate, are thought to play a role. Marked improvement of pruritus resulting from low dialysate calcium and magnesium concentrations has been reported. Increased amounts of these ions are also seen in the skin of pruritic patients.
Hey I just thought of something.. I am under a great deal of stress right now...home life stuff.. Can that cause itching???
Karen sometimes the itches can be caused by nerve-endings tryingto "knit" together again (healing) and that's what the itchy feelings might be due too. Is there anything that you use like cream to stop this itch perhaps with steroids or not?

Stress uses the sympathetic nervous system, which prepares the body for action. The main sympathetic neurotransmitter, noradrenaline, is released at the nerve endings.
