In a recent news item, reference was made to "the north of Antarctica". I was wondering, since Antarctica is spread around the South pole, where exactly is "the north of Antarctica"? Is it it's outer shoreline, i.e. 360 degrees? Isn't any direction away from South, in fact North?

Sounds pretty logical to me. I can only imagine that what was trying to be said was the peripheries of Antarctica, IE the entire coast line.
