Any Hungarians Here?
« on: 11/02/2005 12:58:40 »
I was wondering if there were any Magyars or Szecklers here?

Rather late getting here, but you may have noted the odd reference in some of my posts to my Hungarian heritage, although not a Hungarian myself.

Ancestors from all around central Europe, particularly the larger Austro-Hungarian empire before it split up, but most immediately from Gyor, Budapest, Sarajevo, Miskolz, and Nyregyhaza.

My grandparents were from Panscova, now in Serbia, and Szeged, southern most Hungary.

Don't know anything about Panscova – but then., I've never been to Northern Serbia (in fact, I've not actually visited Serbia since the breakup of Yugoslavia).

Been to Szeged once, but that was back in the 1980's, when much of eastern Hungary was still very underdeveloped, and the south-east even more so.
