The 'pedals' are So short?... they could have made them longer?

The cranks of the hand pedals would have to be shorter than half the drivers reach,
 otherwise they would have to move their torso back and forward to operate them.

[I believe the hand-pedals can be set to opposite positions, like foot-pedals,
 although I think this would make the "Handy" more difficult to steer]
