There's an interesting issue about homosexuality here. People get all steamed up about homosexuality being 'unnatural'. It's a perfect solution in many situations. In social groups where there is a (successful) dominant male there would be an immense amount of dissatisfaction amongst the remaining males. This makes for a lot of competition (rutting stags and all that) and involves a huge energy overhead for the whole of the male population. You still need a strong sex drive, even for those males who don't manage to mate - Big George may die tomorrow and he will need a successor PDQ. Homosexual activity can be a good way to  divert the randy males until an opportunity arises. Many species exhibit this behaviour - so it IS natural.
Humans are such complex creatures that it is clearly a very valid life style. If one accepts that the primary function of sex is reproduction and assumes that the sex drive must be one of the strongest instincts then
a. at the very simplest level, homosexual behaviour is an excellent way of resolving frustrated desire.
and
b. on a much more sophisticated level, homosexual behaviour is a perfectly valid way of preserving the sexual urge and is in the general interests of the population. The alternative would be for males to say "no dice, so I'll watch the footie on TV". That characteristic would soon cause the species to die out. You really do have to second and third guess all human behaviour if you want to have a chance of understanding it.
As a heterosexual male, I can appreciate the wonders of the vagina but I can see how all the alternatives have their place in our evolution. "On the other hand...."

I don't think there can be an explanation as to any individual's sexual tendency. For some, lesbianism could be as a result of distrust, of men through personal experience, or the experience of someone close to you.

It could be the fact that many men fail to show their full & true emotions, on the premise that such a show of feelings might be interpreted as a weakness. A woman might feel that only another woman can show their love to the full, without fear or preconceptions.

It could be a dislike, or even revulsion of the male genitalia. It could be the rough and even sometimes violent nature of men during the act of intercourse. There is also the selfishness of some men, who either don't know how to, or don't care whether the woman is brought to climax.

Any one, or combination, of these and other reasons could lead a woman toward lesbian tendencies. Doubtless a similar set of opposing reasons could explain homosexuality in men.

As for bisexuals, I can only imagine that one, or a number of, these reasons exist in the individual's perception of the opposite sex, but that it, or they, do not fully override the need, or desire, for relationships with the opposite sex.

Of course all the above could be just a load of old shoe menders.

My comments on homosexuality are just pointing out that it is 'perfectly natural', it happens throughout Nature and it seems to me that there are plenty of evolutionary advantageous reasons for it. 
Humans have so much more complicated systems than other animals we see and there is a whole extra layer of psychology at work. The way we think and the way societies work are so involved and there are loops within loops and reasons within reasons when we come to any decision about what we want to do.
The last thing that's needed is for yet another layer involving guilt to be introduced by ignorant statements against homosexuality.
Of course, that doesn't mean that 'anything goes', with regard to sexual behaviour (or in any other facet of life). Even more self control and responsibility is needed where sex is concerned because it is such a strong urge, leading to many bad decisions and generally harmful actions.

As has been mentioned ...I suppose it's not especially the beef-curtains that one is attracted to but it's the body they're attached to....although, it IS very nice !!

Sorry to do this, but getting back to the original question...Do any of the heterosexual males here (and MIL) actually think the vagina is attractive to look at? Surely not! If it was supposed to be a 'thing of beauty' or a sight 'to behold' then the 'designer' got it totally wrong.

I assume there is a range of responses in regard to the aesthetics of female genitals  from "ugly" to "absolutely beautiful" with variations depending on the individual female. The same probably needs to be said for the response of women in regard to the aesthetics of male genitals.

Isn't the perception of beauty also (if not solely) connected to experiences? If you like what you can do with it and what it does to you you may find it more beautiful.
