Do you drink green tea?
« on: 03/03/2009 12:00:26 »
Ever since coming to Japan, I have bcome hooked on green tea - here you can buy small bottles of iced green tea and it s just as, if not more popular than coca cola.

Here are some benefits of green tea.

Does anyone else partake in this fine elixir?

I also enjoy a range of teas, and would agree that there's nothing quite like a jasmine green tea to soothe your head and cleanse the palate.  Redbush tea, also known as Rooibos, is actually not a 'tea' at all, as it's not made with tea (Camelia sinensis) leaves but a different plant (Aspalathus linearis).  It's got no caffeine at all, and a really good, earthy flavour.

Green tea is the spawn of the devil, is poisoned by the blood poured from the wounds of those who picked it and is used by pharma as a mind drug to make you spend all your money.

Oh! Wrong thread. Sorry!   [;)]

I love jasmine tea, but not too strong. In Germany, there is a penchance for flavoured teas, such as strawberry or peppermint, which to my palate really are an abomination! I do like a cup of green tea too, but, being a brit, you can't beat a good breakfast tea brew.

I drink my green tea with peppermint. If you get the right peppermint and green tea it's completely awesome. If you get the wrong teas... not so much.

I think it's a Moroccan speciality originally.

At the moment Sainsbury's 'pure green tea' and Sainsbury's 'pure peppermint'; one of each tea bags per cup and leave to stew until it tastes good to you.

You can also get them premixed, but they're not always as good, some of them are pretty so-so.

Moroccan mint tea is incredible, but out there there is almost as much sugar as tea in the pot!

I drink green tea on occasion, but I find the Japanese habit of drinking it straight a bit much- I like mine sweetened. My husband can't drink tea due to his kidney stone issues, so the drink of choice around here is rooibos tea, as it has no oxalates. I think I like the sound of Moroccan mint tea- I LIKE my tea very sweet!

I just had some, and for extra geek-cred I sweetened it with pure Xylitol.

All the sweetness, none of the cavities!

It's a fairly expensive sweetener though (~£2.60+ for 225 grams), but you gotta do these things when you're a science geek.
