Does Money Buy Happiness ?

Apparently Money Does Buy Happiness

The next time that someone tells you that money can't buy
happiness, tell them that they are wrong.  New research
published in Britain has shown that even winning a small lottery
or receiving an inheritance can produce contentment in average
people.  Professors Andrew Oswald and Jonathan Gardner of
Warwick University in central England tracked 9,000 families
over the past decade to study whether there was a link between
cash windfalls and contentment.  "We find a very strong link
between cash falling on you and higher contentment and better
mental health in the following year," said Oswald.

he never asked me........... [???]

I believe just as poverty and finacial woes can bring people down because it effects the very ability to remain fit, well, etc....so shall money aide in bringing a certain amount of happiness in bringing you the knowledge  that you and your family will eat or be able to have shelter through a winter..I believe it does not take great wealth to be happy in a healthy way...I also believe people in poverty can find things that bring happiness in family ect.... but I have also been in a position where the hardship was so bad that the mere thought that I had not been able to meet their
( my childrens) basic needs... takes a tole and becomes an overwhelmingly depressive sad situation which eats away inside a person and their self estem and overall out look on happiness.

I also do not believe that someone who has never walked and lived in poverty are in no way qualifie to be able to make judgement to questions like this....
Its an ineresting thought that they would have had to ask it in the first place!

It is a difficult thing to do, finding true happiness with or without money...but it certainly helps doesn't it......?

relative isn't it? if your yearly income is worth 5 euros then a 10 euros is fantastic.

we are only poor or rich  if we believe we are. I know people who are well off but unhappy because they don't feel the have as much as the need.

I know what it is to live on the street in the could and the wet and still I found happiness because at least i was away from thouse who were hurting me.

it really jus depends on ur standard of living how comfortable u are...id say most ppl are in positions that they are not comfort able with so alot of money will help them get more relaxed but then again there are many people that are perfectly content whenther they live in a box, a run down farm house or even just an appartment its all perspective

I have been very poor (by British standards) and am now reasonably well off. I can't say that it has made me happier but it hasn't made me happier either. I think it depends on your general disposition. Having money has made me warmer though and that is the only thing that I find is a major improvement. We had no central heating when I was a child. the windows used to be frosty on the inside. If anyone starts the cardboard box sketch, I'm leaving.
