No it is not SN 1987A , nor NCC 1701A [:)].
It is not extra-terrestrial.

This image is an interference pattern created by reflecting monochromatic light from a complex diffraction grating: it is an optical analogue of Laue photographs produced in X-ray crystalography:-

Apparently Laue patterns are too obscure.
This one is much easier: I think everyone will have seen one of these at least once a day.

Darn, ROBERT, I have looked at some complex minerals and combination of minerals but I have never seen anything even close to this. And it is from MY school. (Just noted that when I started this reply.)

And the Last one posted looks like water with a "whirlpool" in it.

JimBob an Upton are correct; it is a vortex of water:-

This one is in a 2litre plastic bottle, (a lot safer than chasing a waterspout [:)]).

Science demonstrators (Daveshorts et al) may wish to know that plastic "joiners" to create
this "tame tornado" are available from this source:-
http://www.mutr.co.uk/prodDetail.aspx?prodID=949

There is a description of how to produce a "tame tornado" at the site (item 6):-
