That is rather impressive. My camera is 16.7 Mega pix & I thought that was good!

I think it is a collage of loads of smaller pictures all put together - so cool, but needs a very long exposure time

Yeah, Rob - that's the 1. I picked it up on a trip to the states a while back.
I do a lot of wildlife photography & I needed something with very high res so I could fit a good zoom lens on it & shoot from a distance (getting too close to a lot of the animals spooks them)

Yes, you could in theory make your own composite pictures with a simpler camera, sixelms. You could make several 'zoom' levels, but the important part is to 'stitch' the pix together, and for that they use adapted software from NASA that does the same with all these camerashots of satellites for instance, glueing them into one big picture, which is sometimes why a planet can look like 'patchwork'. well i was expecting my 3.1 mega pixcel cam to be the best cam of the world coz no one needs more than 3.1 mega pix snap and 3.1 is enough for them.
