Some Mineral water (in the UK) firstly claims to be 60 million years old then suggests
it should be sold by a specific date (usually within 6-8 months)

I guess they got that out of the ground just in time!

Know anymore obscure sell-by / best before stories?

I would like to see a bar of chocolate with the legend, 'Best before some other greedy pig gets their hands on it.'

On general matters my young and very beautiful wife seems tho think that "Best before" and "sell by" actually mean "Deadly Poisonous immediately after" - thus any item out of date is hurled into the trash  - anybody else suffer this or have any tales to tell?

Many of these 'use by' dates are just to indemnify the manufacturers. We bought a bottle of vinegar a few days ago with a best before date of 2011. I doubt there will be anything wrong with it in 2022, except it wont last that long.

My Mrs has a 'best before'............. best before she wakes up and starts nagging!!!!

I have bicarbonate of soda that says best before April 2001. still works for all the cleaning and de burping jobs!

My favourite is a jar of potassium permanganate with a 1985 expiry, if it`s kept dark it doesn`t go off, and if your kids do get that fungal nail thing at school showers or swimming baths   they keep plugging on the telly a few crystals and barely pink solution does the same and better than the expensive jollop within a week or two.

Works nicely with aluminuim foil for fireworks too!
