Will ebook readers replace traditional publishing?

I have bought an e-book reader. I have books cluttering up my house and taking up room that I really don't have. When I go on holiday I buy several books as I get though a fare few and I also start reading some and decide that they are not for me after the first chapter. This means I have to take a big suitcase. Sometime I still run out of reading material. I bought my e-reader because I thought this will be the answer. I do like it. It is lighter to hold up in bed, the screen has that book quality, I can store a whole library of books in it, the pages are easy to turn and I don't need a book mark. Sadly there is one down side. A real book doesn't run out of charge at the most exciting part. I'm not very good at remembering to plug the bloody thing in so this is the one area that ruins it for me. Blow the smell of a real book, the touch and the front cover. I just want a page turner that doesn't blank out.

How very true Madam!

I, myself, have longed for a tall, nasty redhead to turn my pages for many years, but this damned culture has ruined so many of life's innocent pleasures (sigh)

On a brighter note, I see that Sony is coming out with a household robot helpmate. While it may not have red hair and silk gauze pantaloons (yet)- perhaps it can be trained to keep the ebook reader topped up and ready. Perhaps it could even recite "The Lady of the Lake..

"Caledonia stern and wild! Meet nurse for a poetic child..

My cat is quite good at turning pages but sadly she eats them afterwards.

I wonder if your cat would enjoy "Space time for Springers" by the late Fritz Leiber?

You may find it here...

i carry your heart with me
by E. E. Cummings

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Whoops! I had some e.e. cummings loaded on my clipboard. Rather than erase it, I will leave it to edify the naked scientists

Here is the link for space time for springers...
