We have yet to determine the gender of Feeshus Don't know how to tell  [???]
I think those balls reproduce asexually... hopefully we have some ball-ologists here who can tell us more

... do ewe think it will now rust and stuff ? I know it has no iron in it..but if left de-chromed will it develop cold sores ?

The magnetixs balls are described as "steel". Steel is ~98% iron, which will rust without some sort of barrier protection (that's what the chromium coating was for). Coating it with oil (e.g. WD40) and sealing it in a ziplock bag (air removed) would be a cheap way to preserve its current appearance for a decade until it is required for embarrassment purposes. Might want to preserve a chromed ball in a similar manner (separate bag) for comparison purposes: the chrome coat must be rather thin to have been removed so readily.

Hi all, thanks for your kind comments.

I'm new to posting, so I hope my uploaded picture is visible to you all.

It's not uploading but you can see it on Google here:
http://picasaweb.google.com/ellieanita/Desktop#5358312594186017218 [nofollow]
It's 1.5cm long

Well this is the spikey item she swallowed. No sign of it yet.

Would stomach acids melt/disintigrate plastic?
The doctor didn't seem to think so.

Fingers crossed we find it as something this shape is more likely to get lodged inside...I was kind of hoping for something more bead shaped or round for safety. I've been told to feed her "fibre, fibre & more fibre"

Not sure I'll get as good an after souvenir as Neil LOL
But one things for sure, I won't be putting the hair accessory back in her hair!!

Hi Ellie,

wow !!...I have no doubt it will pass through without a hitch..

Please do let us all know will ya ?

I don't think the stomach will dissolve the plastic..which is probably a good thing actually.

Just keep an eye out for an unusual shaped piece of corn !!  [;)]

That's some interesting wall covering behind your computer screen you have there Neil...
You going for a CD (seedy) look?
Do the CDs mean something or do you just like shiney silvery round objects like your son?  [;)]

Update: 48 hours now and still no sign of wishbone shaped plastic

You really should encase the feeshus ball in resin. [;D] It'll make a great paper weight and it'll come in handy when you need to embarrass the boy later in life. [^] It's pointless to try and embarrass a 3 year old, but it will make a great wedding present. Mwaaaaahaaaahaaaahaaaahaaaa

Thanks MonikaS...I think I will trek to a tropical rain forest and let Feeshus Ball get encased in some Amber !...then...voila !!....on their millionth year anniversary I will present them with it as a gift !.....sorted !

Hmmmmm....*sheepy ponders*....there's something not quite right there is there ?..I just can't quite put my finger on it !

Ok ...I think I'll go with the resin......next stop my local arts & crafts all nighter !

I made a hemispherical resin paperweight XX years ago.
The resin stuff really stinks and heats up as it sets, (exothermic reaction),
particularly if you put too much hardener in like I did.

Trapped air bubbles are a problem. Use the least amount of hardener possible to set:
the longer set time gives the air bubbles time to reach the surface before it solidifies.

You'll have to find some way of suspending the ball in the centre of the mould,
e.g. attach the ball to a little post of resin made by filling a 2" bit of drinking straw with resin...

To have your flower [or feeshus ball] preserved and encapsulated are priced £63.95  [[:0]] per paperweight for a 2.5 "
and £86.90  [[:0]] for a 3" paperweight.

[A ziplock bag and a squirt of WD40 is a lot cheaper].

But it's not as cool as a resin paperweight! And the embarrassment factor is a lot smaller. I really think Neil should do it himself, makes it even better as a wedding gift for the boy later in life.

I can allmost hear the dialog:
Neil: Here, I got a present for you. Do you know what this is?
James: <shaking his head wearily, he knows his dad after all>
Neil: <explaining the story of planet Feeshus in all its g(l)ory detail>
James: <blushing furiously, and starts to curse his dad>
James'-wife to be: Why are you blushing?
Neil: <explains again>
James'-wife to be: <roars with laughter>

If you do go with the resin paperweight idea include a chromed ball for comparison purposes...

Hi neil, i know this is months after the event, two things realy !
firstly, as long as the object wasnt a " bulgarian brolly ball " he will be fine, and secondly, if he swallowed it, how the "tom dooley" have you got it in your hand, or do you have one of those endescope things ?

i take it the young chap is fine ?
