How Much More Battery Life Can I expect With My Phone Kept In A Warm Place ?
« on: 30/08/2009 17:49:04 »
Dearest Phonelifeologists,

As a sheepy I of course ewese a mobile phone. Out of all the portable hand held communication devices that enable ewe to call someone, mobile phones are my fave (US Translation service: 'Mobile' = 'Cell'....sheesh!!)

Now I understand I could quite probably extend the battery life before recharging ,if I kept my phone warm ...

look..

My Phone Being Kept Warm

Nice eh ?

How much more battery life can I expect with my phone kept in a nice warm place ?...and why ?...Is this where Inuits keep their phones ? Why does a cold battery run out quicker

If anybody would like to borrow my phone then they are more than welcome.

hugs & shmishes

mwah mwah mwah !!

It's when it wobbles AND Vibrates that most fun is had !!..

BUT..that uses the battery up even more so !

I wish I had an answer.....Does keeping my phone in a warm place extend it's battery life in-between charges ?

As a general rule, batteries should be stored (i.e. when you're not drawing power from them) in the cold, and used (i.e. when you are drawing power from them) at room temperature.

When a mobile phone is on standby (i.e. switched on but not in use), it draws a small amount of current, and occasionally makes a brief transmission to the network to let the system know it's alive. Whether this kind of standby counts as "storage" or "use" would be difficult to say. The degree of use or non-use would also depend on whether the phone has a good signal, or is continually searching for one (takes more power), or you're travelling a lot so it keeps logging on to one base-station then another.

If it's a spare battery not in the phone, or the phone is swiched off then by all means keep it cool (even in the fridge - but I wouldn't freeze it without checking the manufacturers' specs).
You should also be careful about not charging batteries that are very cold as with some types there may be an increased risk or fire or explosion.

Batteries kept warm (especially warmer than room-temperature) will self-discharge more quickly. In the case of Lithium-ion cells, these also undergo "aging" where there overall capacity degrades over months, which is hastened by keeping the batteries warm.

This automatic interrogation of the network is a worrying feature of mobile phones I always keep mine switched of when driving.
I have visions of it being quoted in court that I covered a distance of one mile in less than 50 seconds (or even 30!).

Hmmmm.....those buttocks look awfully familiar.  I believe I saw them prancing around in a lovely open field when I was in the UK.  I saw lots of buttocks while I was there, but those really stood out! [;D]

Just out of curiosity, when you remove your phone from your hind end, after its been on wobbly vibrate mode.....do your cheeks still vibrate?  I keep my cellie in my bra...tucked snuggly next to my breast, for two reasons.  One, I can find it easily and two,  I just love for my boobs to vibrate  [:I], but after I remove the phone my breasts still vibrate.  My friend Isa does the same thing with her phone and her breasts vibrate after removing the phone too.  Is it just us, or does it happen to you too?

I'm thinking about lyposuction. If I empty mine, do you want the contents?

(Actually, I wonder if I could turn it into biodiesel)

THANK EWE very much techmind !..I always thought it was the other way round. I always thought the colder it was the quicker the energy would dissipate....

gosh....ewe know what this means ?..it means I have to go stick my butt in the fridge !

Thank ewe for the great information. I have learned stuff because of ewe !

Oh my !!...now..unfortunately..i don't have eyes in the back of my head so as a firm believer in empirical study I snuk into my neighbours house at 3am this morning and for two hours wagged and wiped my butt on his face !...I can confirm that YEY..my butt continues to vibrate and wobble when removing the appliance..as does my neighbours head !
