The who owns the fish riddle.
« on: 02/10/2009 06:23:33 »
I have a question about the "Who Owns The Fish" Riddle.

I'm having a dispute with someone over the answer i got because of a discrepancy in the riddle.

I claim the line stating:  "* The green house is on the left of the white house" isn't clear enough.

I did my riddle and arrived at the answer it's the danish. However, the widely accepted answer is that it's German.

And here is my argument: the line only states that the green house is to the left of the white house it doesn't state how far left.

It only says it's to the left. Therefore, they're not necessarily next door neighbors.

Am I just barking up the wrong tree here? Does the original riddle have a clearer explanation of the green to white house?

Here is the original riddle I was sent:

    * The Brit lives in a red house
    * The Swede keeps dogs
    * The Dane drinks tea
    * The green house is on the left of the white house
    * The green house owner drinks coffee
    * The person who plays polo rears birds
    * The owner of the yellow house plays hockey
    * The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk
    * The Norwegian lives in the first house
    * The man who plays baseball lives next to the man who keeps cats
    * The man who keeps horses lives next to the one who plays hockey
    * The man who plays billiards drinks beer
    * The German plays soccer
    * The Norwegian lives next to the blue house
    * The man who plays baseball has a neighbor who drinks water.

Forgive me if i'm being too blunt but did you even read my concern?

I have my work already and arrived at an answer. And i'm say i arrived at it because of unclarity. does anyone else think anything of it?
