But i've also had squid in its own ink :)

Neil rode an ostrich but I wonder if he ever tried the eggs?

Mr. Scientist was the egg good..?
Are you serious about the Squid being served in its own ink?

Hey Squid Calamari and Octopus arent they basically one nd the same? What about flavor..? I thought Calimari and Squid were the same, am I wrong in that assumption?

It was Calamari, and your completely right. They are the same, just that calamari is a japanese dish :)

Hey, Squid, Calamari and Octopus, aren't they basically one and the same? What about flavor..? I thought Calamari and Squid were the same, am I wrong in that assumption?

Calamari is the name for squid once it's been cooked with a Mediterranean flavour (calamari is Italian) But the name is, these days, interchangeable for cooked squid.

Octopus and squid are two different creatures, but both are Cephalopods (along with cuttlefish) Octopus, IMO, tastes different to squid, and is somewhat chewier.

Thank you.. so are they, the octopus and Squid related like cousins or some such thing..? If they are two different creatures does that nul the possibility of them being related?

... trio of homeless men were arrested in Russia - accused of murdering the man with knives and a hammer.

Prosecutors revealed: "After carrying out the crime, the corpse was divided up - part of it was eaten and part of it was sold to a kiosk selling kebabs and pies."

Suspicions were raised when dismembered parts of a human body were found near a bus stop in the outskirts of the Russian city of Perm - which is 720 miles east of Moscow.

I can't think of anything really out of the ordinary I've eaten. Frog legs, snails, octopus and squid I've had, but don't think them odd. Tripe I've had and quite honestly I think I might just as well have eaten a bathroom sponge. The most disgusting, which I think I may have mentioned before, was a French offal sausage. It quite literally smelt like the chef had fried one of his own turds. Needless to say, I didn't eat any of it.

I was stationed in Germany during my military stay and discovered a sausage called: Blutwurst

Translated into English that would be: Blood sausage.

It's made with pork and beef, small pieces of heart, kidney, and an assortment of other internal organs. These items are mixed together in the blood of the animal along with spices and allowed to clot. The product is then aged and allowed to dry substantually producing a sausage with a very deep purple color.

It's extremely good cut into small pieces and spread over fried potatoes. As the potatoes fry, the blood sausage will literally melt over the potatoes as they cook.

Yummy, yummy, in my tummy. I must say, it's one of my favorite sausages.

Ok I admit it.
The doggiest thing I have eaten was a pickled pig's foot from a jar behind the bar in a pool hall.

The jar of pickled eggs next to it however, no, wouldn't touch that.

Palm heart
Bamboo shoots
Sea Weed
Kimchi
Sauerkraut
Fiddlehead Ferns
Breadfruit
Morels
Chanterelles
Boiled Peanuts
Monkey Apple
Pommecythere

But the most unusual would probably be Polk Salad.
I prefer Collards though.

Speaking of pickled eggs¹ (or just eggs in general) has anyone ever tried "balut", a specialty food of the Philippines and other parts of Asia?  They use fertilized chicken or duck eggs, almost fully developed, and they boil them in the shell, and eat them like a hard-boiled egg.  They say the whole thing is edible, except the shell of course.  Definitely different....

¹ Hard-boiled eggs frighten me; those big jars of pickled eggs scare the kidneys out of me!

My ex-husband and children love pickled eggs! They boil them up and then brine them for a couple weeks before they eat them... They say they are delicious!
