I was challenged by my college biology prof to complete a heptahybrid cross (thats 7 traits) of Gregor Mendel's pea plants....i was wondering how many different combinations of upper and lower case letters there are if i have label the traits as PAYRSGT? I greatly appreciate the help [

Each letter can be either lower case or uppercase. So, there are two possible states for each letter.
The possible combinations of two states for seven positions is 2 to the power 7 which equals 128.
If there were only four positions, it would be 2^4 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16
What would it be if there were 17 positions?
What would it be if each position could have any one of the 26 letters in the alphabet and there were 10 positions?
