I suspect the lorry driver was driving a bit too aggresively, either that or he was reading his newspaper.

This reminds me of an incident a few years ago.

Mrs G and myself were driving South on Interstate 15 in Utah. There was hardly any traffic on the road. We gradually gained on a "big rig" and just as I was about to overtake it, it started to move left into the passing lane. Mrs G looked up at the driver and he seemed to think this was highly entertaining. (There was no other traffic in sight.)

I moved left and floored it. I made some distance between us, then pulled over to the hard shoulder with the intention of getting the number plates of this maniac. He figured out what I was doing, so he pulled over to the hard shoulder and stopped at some distance behind us.

By now Mrs G was was almost hysterical, so, in the interests of matrimonial harmony, I resumed our journey. I was not able to get his license plates, or, just as well in hindsight, my hands around his scrawny neck.

Reminds me of that old, and very tense, Speilberg film, "Dual".

It was a bit like Duel. Fortunately the outcome was not quite so extreme.

I can only suppose that the truck driver in Utah was a raving loonie, and this was a little game he played to amuse himself on long boring drives. I did nothing to antagonize the guy in any way, and it was not as if I was driving an exotic vehicle. I don't think that term applies to Volvos  [:D] (Sorry Yoron)

Dennis Weaver was at a disadvantage. His old Plymouth could hardly get out of the way of the truck. At least I had some horsepower to play with.

It's quite difficult to get the number plate of a truck in the US. The tractor and trailer have their own plates and you really need to get the one on the tractor. Unfortunately, it's only visible at the front of the tractor.

Well, that lorry driver is either asleep, on drugs or/and an asshole. I would ban him from his driving license anyway and drug test him too. Trust me on this, there is no way you miss dragging a car in front of you, not if you're in any way competent in your profession.

That the cops investigating missed that is scary.

reminds me of a time...

right lane of the motor way poodling at 110 kph, bloke in front behind and to the left, the bloke to my left decides he wants my piece of road and across he comes.  playing with his stereo talking on the phone.  i sound my horn (ok its a bikes horn, so sounds like a disabled fart), he's still comming and pushing me across to the hard shoulder, (ok it called the hard shoulder but really its the place all the s**t on the road ends up).  i kick the car, oblivious he carries on coming, finally he looks up, see me and smiles.  at this point im on the s**t trying to control my bike, furious, red banks of rage fill me.  i come off, forced off at the next slip road, and i slow go around the roundabout and get back on the motorway, in need of a change of underwear.

so i crank it up, just wanting to get home, and what do i see, the same merc clk weaving all over the road being a danger to all, the mist descends, i dropped down 2 gears and really crank it up, 14 000 rpm red line, 5th gear, 6th gear 230 kph, 240 kph, i stick my leg out, and take of the bas****s wing mirror, then disappear into the horizon.

yes petty, yes dangerous, and yes the bugger in the car probably has no idea why this happened to him.

but it made me feel good after, and still does

Now Gd...

Tut tut, temper temper :)

It reminds me of that time (long ago) when there was a Porsche blocking the street and I calmly asked him to get his 'garbage' out of the way :)

He threw a fit ::))
